AIFMD and MiFID II - the compatibilities and differences

As a major accounting and consultancy network, Moore Stephens has been heavily involved with the implementation and adaptation to, the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) and the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) with its clients. Whilst some areas of the two directives correlate, there are also areas that are creating problems for firms as they aim to be compliant with them, with conflicts of interest emerging across the directives.

Giovanni Giro, compliance manager at Moore Stephens, spoke to Thomas Murray Data Services about the two directives and the conflicts of interest, and convergences, between them. We also look ahead to the potential for an AIFMD II and the areas within the current directive that could be improved.
